Work & Research Experience

D-Lab Data Science Fellow 2023-2024

UC Berkeley, D-Lab

  • Teaching and assisting in workshops on a range of computational and statistical skills including NLP, python and R at a range of skill levels.

  • Participating in weekly presentations about a range of data and advanced statistical related topics.

Graduate Student Researcher, Experimental Cognition Lab

UC Berkeley, Department of Psychology

Principal Investigator: Dr. William Thompson, PhD

  • Developing more complete models of the computational processes that arise in social networks as a consequence of human interaction and the transmission of knowledge from person to person.

  • Combining behavioral experiments, computational modeling, and machine learning (NLP and ANN) to study how these processes influence ways of thinking and communicating.

  • Focusing on the social foundations of higher cognitive abilities such as language, problem-solving, reasoning, decision-making, and creative thinking

  • Exploring how these models can be applied to the study and understanding of human psychopathology.

Graduate Student Researcher, C.R.E.A.M Lab

UC Berkeley, Department of Psychology

Principal Investigator: Dr. Keanan Joyner, PhD

  • Applying NLP algorithms to uncover the multilingual understanding of individual differences in alcohol and cannabis related behaviors.

  • Using neuroscientific methods (primarily electroencephalogram/event-related potentials [EEG/ERPs]), ambulatory assessment techniques (such as ecological momentary assessment), biometric (behavioral genetic) analyses, and a variety of computational and statistical methods (like machine learning algorithms, longitudinal multilevel modeling, Bayesian) to study the eitology of substance use disorders across time (both within- and between-individuals).

Graduate Student Instructor, Methods for Research in Psychological Science

UC Berkeley, Department of Psychology

  • Teaching 40 honors students on statistical and data science methods used for psychological science. Topics include: regression, Bayesian inference, multilevel modeling, machine learning

  • Working alongside Dr. Keanan Joyner to prepare classes in addition to leading lab sections.

Graduate Research Assistant, Cham Lab

Fordham University, Department of Psychology

Principal Investigator: Dr. Hei Ning Cham, PhD

  • Project leader in charge of organizing, managing, cleaning, and analyzing departmental data for administrative and strategic planning purposes. Lab with 6 people.

  • Author of a proposal for the Department of Psychology and Fordham’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences based on the results of the analysis.

Graduate Research Assistant, Bronx Personality Lab

Fordham University, Department of Psychology

Principal Investigator: Dr. Christopher Conway, PhD

  • Coordinate multiple projects studying the relationship between individual differences and mental health outcomes in moment-by-moment basis using various forms of ecological momentary assessment (EMA).

  • Develop new studies including study design, grant development, and submission, protocol and manual creations.

  • Run advanced quantitative analyses for various projects including SEM and longitudinal SEM.

  • Work on a thesis project for the completion of a Master’s of Science, using exploratory structural equation modeling to look at the relationship between various individual differences.

  • Disseminate data at in various means including papers, posters, and conference presentations.

  • Coordinate and mentor undergraduate research assistants on multiple projects.

Clinical Research Coordinator, Mood and Personality Disorders Lab

Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Department of Psychiatry

Principal Investigator: Dr. Harold W. Koenigsberg, MD

  • Coordinated and managed multiple behavioral and clinical trials including multiple NIMH R01s furthering the understanding and treatment of personality disorders and affective instability.

  • Experience with multidisciplinary methods including self-report, ecological momentary assessment (time series analysis), fMRI, eye-tracking, galvanic skin response, oxytocin administration, and behavioral tasks.

  • Worked on developing a new study from raw idea to institutional approval and eventual NIMH R61/R33 funding.  Involved in study design, protocol development in addition to grant development and submission.

  • Managed database numerous studies which included behavioral, fMRI, and physiological data.

  • Coded behavioral stimuli on e-prime used to train participants for tasks.

  • Clinical experience running phone and in-person interviews, and conducting study visits and administering measures.

  • Regular reporting to the Mount Sinai and James J. Petters Bronx VA IRB committees, the FDA, and the NIMH.

  • Reporting, analyzing, and communicating results via conference posters and papers.
