Maria Martin Lopez
University of California, Berkeley PhD Student
I am a PhD student in Psychology at UC Berkeley advised by Drs. Bill Thompson (Computational Cognitive Science Lab) and Keanan Joyner (C.R.E.A.M. Lab). I am also a Data Science Fellow at the UC Berkeley D-Lab
I study computational and quantitative models of individual differences in behaviors, thoughts, and language relating to substance use and externalizing psychopathology (e.g. personality disorders, impulsivity, aggression). I am particularly interested in how we can leverage novel language and cognitive algorithms to understand, measure, and predict processes relating to the etiology of these disorders.
Prior to coming to Berkeley, I got my MS in Fordham University in Clinical Research Methods with an emphasis on quantitative and psychometric psychology where I worked with Chris Conway in the Bronx Personality Lab and Heining Cham. Before that, spent three years as a Clinical Research Coordinator at the Mood and Personality Disorders Unit at Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine alongside Dr. Harold W. Koenigsberg after graduating with my BA in Politics and Computer Science from New York University.

In my free time I am an avid equestrian showjumper and enjoy spending time outdoors with my dogs.
